If I had a guess (and I'm a pretty good guesser), I'd guess you don't take pictures because you thought getting into the highly competitive photography industry was a good business idea. I'd guess you actually fell in love with the way you felt behind the lens. I'd guess you fell in love with the stories you were witnessing in front of the lens, and I'd even guess you fell in love with the way you told those stories.
